I'm Kali, and I photograph weddings and portraits with an emphasis on light, movement, and real interaction — creating images that feel lived-in, joyful, and unmistakably personal.

One day I’ll tell you the story where I booked a destination wedding a week before the date, flew to Nashville to meet my photographer friend who was going with me, the flew to Aruba for the most stunning sunset wedding at the Ritz Carlton and made magical photos with this couple. Then in the following days, I tested positive for COVID-19 and had to stay on the island for another 8 days to quarantine… hehehe true story.

But today you get to see their incredible photos we took only because I had the opportunity to stay on the island a little longer and we booked another session since I was there anyway and traveled to the most gorgeous private beach at sunrise for a few more before they returned home from wedding bliss.

This couple was a dream to work with and their wedding was a stunner, with only their closest friends and family by their side while they tied the knot and vowed forever together. I met these two (in person) the day before the wedding, and it was obvious how crazy about each other they are, and it was so special to not only get to photograph their wedding, but also their rehearsal dinner and more portraits of them here.

How to get the most from your destination wedding photographer

It will always be my recommendation to my destination wedding couples that they ask their photographer to capture all of the moments from the wedding weekend. Being able to tell the story of your whole wedding experience is such a gift to look back on forever. I recommend doing a hair and makeup trial the day before your wedding, and then scheduling a session with your photographer as a short engagement or portrait session that leads into the rehearsal dinner. This not only ensures you are looking your best, but yuo can get a feel for how the makeup may look and feel (and also how it will last) before the day of the wedding. Then, your wedding day will have tons of photos to capture, and your photographer will be ready for all of the lifting situations for wherever it is you chose to photograph.

This couple opted for family photos and the rehearsal dinner photographed, along with the wedding. Since I had to stay a little later and I had some time to kill after I was out of quarantine, I was able to sneak in an additional bridal session that is at a completely separate location than the wedding was!

Honoring those sweet, intimate moments has allowed me to build lasting connections with clients who have become more like friends. Anticipating your hopes and needs during your portrait experience is always my goal — all while keeping the session light-hearted and enjoyable.
