There are some wedding days that stay with you — not because everything was perfect, but because everything felt so right. That was Zane & Alicia from the moment she reached out to me… literally before she even got home from the trip where they got engaged. A woman after my own heart!
Alicia and I are cut from the same cloth: intentional, organized, and excited about all the beautiful details. And Zane? He is as go-with-the-flow as they come. Together, they’re a perfect balance — relaxed but refined, modern with a touch of western, and completely in love in the sweetest, most effortless way.
Their September wedding at Edge of Heaven in Deary, Idaho was the definition of timeless, editorial, and joy-filled.
A Modern White-Barn Wedding in Northern Idaho
Edge of Heaven Weddings & Events is one of the most stunning new venues in our area — an all-white barn with clean lines, incredible natural light, and that modern-but-attainable vibe my couples adore. The moment Alicia told me their colors (white, black, sage, and touches of gold), I knew this wedding was going to be a dream to photograph.
Even with the late-summer smoke rolling through the Palouse, the haze created this soft, glowy, romantic atmosphere that made the whole venue feel like a movie set.
The Wedding Day Story
The Details
Let me just say… Alicia’s details were some of the prettiest I’ve photographed all year. Every piece coordinated perfectly — the flatlays, the invitation suite, the sage accents, the clean white tones. Her style is classic, refined, and a little editorial.
If you love beautiful detail photos, I have a full post about why they matter (and how to prep for them!) on my blog.

Getting Ready
The morning was light, calm, and full of those soft moments that set the tone for the whole day. Alicia was surrounded by her favorite people, and there was this underlying excitement humming through the room.
The First Looks
These moments genuinely made the entire day feel layered with emotion. Alicia shared separate first looks with Zane, her dad and her brothers.
Her first look with Zane was everything — sweet, emotional, and playful. They even did rock-paper-scissors to decide who would read their private vows first. (Private vows forever!!)
If you’re planning your own timeline and wondering when to fit in first looks, I have a blog post that breaks it all down.

The Ceremony
Outside the white barn, under a smoky late-summer sky, their ceremony felt relaxed and meaningful. After years together, this moment felt like the natural next step — quiet, emotional, and beautiful in its simplicity.
Portraits
This is where Zane & Alicia’s energy truly came alive.
Zane could not stop staring at her — truly, not even for a second — and Alicia was glowing in the most effortless way. Their styles complemented each other perfectly: her modern and editorial, his elevated western. Together, they created magic.
Because they trusted me fully, their gallery is full of movement, emotion, and the kind of authenticity that makes images feel alive.
Reception
Inside the barn, the clean wooden interior mixed with touches of gold created an elevated and modern setting for the celebration. The dance floor stayed full, the laughs were loud, and the love from their friends and family was so, so evident.
Why Their Gallery Feels So “Them”
Zane and Alicia built their day around intention — private vows, multiple first looks, carefully curated details, and a timeline that prioritized experience over rushing.
And while the smoke shifted some of their original plans, Alicia trusted her vendor team and leaned into the day as it unfolded. That trust is everything. When couples allow themselves to be present, they get images that feel real, natural, and full of the emotion they’ll remember forever.
