2025 Wedding Trends: The Biggest Trends You’ll See in Weddings Next Year

Hey there, beautiful couples! Are you planning a wedding for 2025 and dreaming of something timeless, vibrant, and undenably you? Well, buckle up! The wedding world is buzzing with fresh, meaningful trends that are all about celebrating what makes each couple unique. From weekend-long experiences to personal touches, there’s a lot to get excited about, especially if you’re looking for a wedding day filled with joyful memories and bright, timeless photos that will never go out of style.

Whether you’re newly engaged or putting the final touches on your plans, here are the top trends that are popping up in the 2025 wedding scene—along with some insight on how to make these moments shine on camera!

2025 Wedding Design and Decor Trends

Bold Colors & Playful Patterns

Soft and subtle pastels had their moment, but 2025 is all about bringing in bold color choices! Think colorful color palletes that feature a variety of colors, bold earthy tones, and monochromatic moments. Flowers, table decor, and even wedding party attire are showing off unexpected colors (or a black and white classic trend), creating an atmosphere that’s striking and memorable.

For me as your photographer, bold color choices add richness and a classic feel to a wedding gallery. These colorful pallets can make for interesting photos that add to the joy that the images portray! Imagine a pop of color in the floral arrangements against a sunset backdrop—there’s nothing quite like it! It’s like creating a painted scene that’s as beautiful today as it will be in 50 years.

For color pallets, I’m always looking to see what is going to be in by checking out what my friends with Styled Shoots Across America are up to for the upcoming year of styled shoots. These are industry leading, trendy shoots that are giving photographers content to market themselves in markets, but also lead in some of the trends that we love! Here are some of their pallets they are doing next year!

Curvy Aisel Designs

We LOVE the organic way a curvy aisle looks, moves and feels on a wedding day. This is best done with a smaller wedding ceremony, where there isn’t a ton of rows of chairs, but needs to be long enough to where it gets the curve. Bonus points if you ask your florist to line it with plenty of flowers to give it that movement feel that you’re looking for!

Here is a curvy aisle that I photographed at the Farmhouse on Greenbluff in April 2024. This space was so stunning, and screamed greenhouse luxury! Click here to see more of this stunning session!

Drapery Decor

One beautiful and elegant way to lighten up a space is to drape it! There are so many styles and techniques to this design choice, but pure white and ivory colors usually make for the most jaw dropping designs and reception spaces! Wolf Meadows Wedding Venue is a STUNNING venue in Deary Idaho that I would DIE to have a chance to photograph! It has a beautiful wedding reception space that is adorned with drapery and is a beautifully modern space that has the draping done for you!

2025 Wedding Style Trends

Dramatic Wedding Sleeves

This may be the most dramatic wedding season… ever. **it’s giving bach nation vibes** All jokes aside, we are going to see bridal sleeves that we’ll be thinking about for years. Think detachable, off the shoulder, fabric filled, stunning sleeves. Wedding gowns with sleeves are a classic style that comes and goes every few years, or really stays during the winter wedding season, but this year, I’m predicting that they will make a come back in a big way! The new styles coming out are so detailed and eye catching, and I’m excited to see what we will see. Here is a collage of some examples that I’m looking forward to:

Personal, Flexible Wedding Attire Choices

Get ready to see so much style on 2025 wedding days! Couples are stepping away from rigid attire norms and are finding pieces that feel true to their personalities. This could mean a modern bridal jumpsuit, a groom in a striking velvet suit, or bridesmaids in a mix of styles, prints, and colors that reflect the couple’s vibe.

As a photographer, I’m all about capturing outfits that feel authentic to you and your love story. Seeing each person on your day look like themselves (rather than stiffly posed or out of place) brings so much vibrancy to your photos. The different textures and patterns is something I look for in my photos, to create a visually interesting image, and this year is going to be IT for this! When you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, the joy just shines through. And trust me, that genuine joy? It’s golden on camera.

I usually look at Jenny Yoo and Revelry designs for their bridesmaids collections, but as more flexibility in the bridesmaid fashion come out, I’m seeing my brides go to places like Hello Molly, Show Me Your Mumu, Vici, Lulus, Ivy City Co, and so many more! Either way, finding a pallette that you love and then allowing your girls to choose something close but not matching is IN and we love!

Bridal Hats, Bridal Gloves and more!

Bold statement accessories are also going to be super popular this year; like bridal gloves, bridal hats, purses, and statement shoes! This is where the more modern brides will come to shine with their unique statement pieces that make their day feel more unique than the cookie cutter wedding traditions.

Multi-Day Celebrations: Extending the love

Who says weddings have to be a single day? More and more couples are extending the celebration with multi-day events. From casual welcome gatherings to post-wedding brunches, these extra events give couples even more time to connect with guests and make memories.

For photography, multi-day celebrations mean capturing even more of your story. I love being part of these intimate pre- and post-wedding moments because they offer a look at your personalities and relationships outside of the “formal” wedding day. These photos become some of the most treasured because they capture the entire experience. Plus, more time together = more laughs, more hugs, and more unforgettable moments!

I’m currently writing a blog post about why hosting a welcome party and having a several day celebration is something you should lean into! Check back in, in the coming weeks!

2025 Wedding Celebration Trends

Intimate & Immersive Celebrations

Gone are the days of huge gatherings where you barely see each guest! Today’s couples are opting for smaller, more meaningful celebrations that allow for genuine connection. Think: carefully crafted guest experiences where each moment feels intentional and personal. These couples don’t want to spend their time or money planning events that don’t feel like what they want.

Imagine a wedding where each guest feels like part of the love story. Whether it’s through personalized music performances, custom cocktails, or interactive elements like a fragrance bar, couples are making sure their weddings feel like them in every way. For photographers, this is amazing! These intimate details make for the best storytelling moments. Imagine the joy on Grandma’s face as she watches you exchange vows, or your best friends tearing up the dance floor with a song that’s your song—these are the memories that make the best photos.

Eco-Conscious Weddings : A greener choice for your big day

If you’re one of those couples who cares about sustainability, you’re in good company! More and more, couples are making earth-friendly choices, like selecting second-hand or vintage decor, choosing sustainable florals, or hosting the wedding at a venue that emphasizes green practices.

From a photography standpoint, eco-conscious weddings are a dream. They’re often full of lush greenery, natural textures, and intentional details. Think beautiful recycled-paper invitations, local wildflower arrangements, or candlelit dinners under the stars. All of these elements come together to create a setting that feels warm, earthy, and cozy—a timeless look that feels just right.

2025 Wedding Photography Trends

These Will Make Your Heart Skip a Beat

Now let’s talk about the trends in photography itself—because capturing these moments beautifully is what will make them last forever. Here’s what you can expect to see from wedding photography in 2025:

True-to-Life, Film-Inspired Photography

There’s something timeless about film-inspired photos that can’t be beat. It’s that natural, true-to-life color with a bit of softness that makes every image feel like a memory. Many couples are steering away from heavy filters and going for a look that feels classic and pure. These photo are softer, more pastel inspired, sometimes not tact sharp, and have some motion to them.

For you, this means photos that truly reflect the day’s colors, the glisten in your eye, and the warmth of every smile. These aren’t photos that will look trendy now but outdated later—they’re meant to look beautiful today and beautiful when you’re showing them to your grandkids.

Candid, Emotion-Focused Shots

Posing is great, but the best wedding photos come from the moments when you’re just being yourselves. 2025 is all about candid, emotion-driven photography that captures the real stuff—joy, laughter, the happy tears, and everything in between. Imagine photos where you’re laughing with your best friends, holding hands with your new spouse, or sharing an inside joke with a loved one.

For some couples, they want all of the candids and not to be given direction on the day of, and some really do love the guidance to posing. Finding a photographer who matches your vibe in how you want to be captured, is crucial!

Editorial Portraits with Classic Posing

Ever dreamed of looking like a magazine cover on your wedding day? Editorial-style photos are here to make that dream a reality, combining a bit of structure with a natural, relaxed feel. This trend gives you those classic poses that feel timeless but with an elevated touch.

As a photographer who loves capturing beauty in the moment, I’m all about making you feel like the stars you are. You’ll get that editorial feel, with poses that flatter and feel natural at the same time. The goal? To create photos that could be from the pages of a magazine yet still feel totally you.

Playing with Light & Shadows

There’s something so romantic about creative lighting. In 2025, photographers are going beyond natural light and exploring unique lighting setups—think moody indoor shots, dramatic off-camera flash, shadow play that adds depth to your images, and black and whites that make the moments stand out.

Lighting techniques like these give wedding photos a sense of depth and drama while highlighting the couple in a magical way. Whether it’s a romantic sunset silhouette or a cozy evening shot under string lights, these moments create that wow factor!

Details, Details, Details!

From invitation suites to rings, from the place settings to your “something blue,” details are the storytellers of your day. 2025 is all about these little pieces that pull together the big picture of your wedding day. Photographers are spending extra time on details to make sure that each small element is captured in a way that tells your story.

Imagine the texture of your dress, the delicate florals in your bouquet, and the way your rings sparkle under the light. These are the details that will bring you back to the emotions of the day every time you look at them. These are all parts of your day that will be photographed, but not otherwise highlighted, so details are incredibly important for showing off the essence of the celebration you had.

A wedding reception exit that involves your guests

These are some of the most fun to do, and involving your guests with the photo making process is never something my couples regret. Plus many of them choose to not leave the party afterall!

As you can see, 2025 is all about creating wedding days that feel personal, beautiful, and unforgettable. If you’re planning a wedding that’s full of these trends (or even if you’re just picking a few to sprinkle in), you’re going to end up with a celebration that’s completely and perfectly you. And when it comes time to capture it all? I’ll be there, ready to photograph every little detail and every big moment, preserving the joy and beauty of your day forever.
