Some couples walk into your life and you just know — and Maddy and Jayden were exactly that.
These two met earlier this year at a Bible camp and instantly connected. The kind of connection that feels steady, intentional, and rooted in something deeper. From the very beginning, they both knew this wasn’t just a season… it was forever. They got engaged in late summer and set their wedding date for May 30th at the Barn at Mader Farm — which just so happens to also be the date of their very first date. (Still not over that 🥹)
Maddy and Jayden are based in the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane areas, and traveled for their engagement session here in North Idaho, choosing a fall setting that felt peaceful, intentional, and true to them.
A North Idaho fall engagement session full of meaning
Their engagement session took place during one of my favorite seasons to photograph — fall in North Idaho. Surrounded by warm autumn colors, open fields, and soft golden light, the entire session felt calm and effortless. This is why I love photographing North Idaho fall engagements — the landscape brings so much depth and warmth to every image.
The field location allowed Maddy and Jayden to move freely, laugh together, and stay fully present. It never felt rushed or overly posed — just honest moments unfolding naturally.
They chose two outfits for their session:
- A classy, editorial look with Maddy in a timeless white dress
- A casual, relaxed look with light denim and white tops
Both outfits photographed beautifully and reflected their personalities so well — elevated, joyful, and authentic.
Engagement photos that reflect faith and connection
One of the most meaningful parts of this engagement session was how intentionally Maddy and Jayden wanted their faith represented. Their relationship is deeply centered around their shared religious background, and they brought their Bible along for part of the session.
During a quiet moment, they flipped to a few of their favorite verses and read them aloud to one another. It was tender, grounding, and incredibly sacred — the kind of moment that doesn’t need direction. As a North Idaho engagement photographer, these are the moments I look for: real connection, meaningful pauses, and emotions that can’t be staged.
My process as a North Idaho engagement photographer
When Maddy and Jayden booked their engagement session, we walked through everything together — location scouting, outfit guidance, session planning, and reassurance every step of the way. I want my couples to feel confident and cared for long before we ever meet in front of the camera.
During engagement sessions, I focus on interaction and gentle prompting rather than stiff or overly structured posing. I guide couples into movement, conversation, and connection — creating space for them to simply be themselves.
Maddy and Jayden were especially sweet in this way. They’re playful, affectionate, and so comfortable together that the camera quickly faded into the background. When couples stay in the moment instead of worrying about how they look, their photos feel natural, timeless, and emotionally honest.

North Idaho engagement photos that feel like you
This session was a beautiful reminder that engagement photos aren’t about perfection — they’re about presence. About celebrating the season you’re in and honoring what matters most to you as a couple.
Maddy and Jayden’s love is joyful, faith-filled, and deeply intentional, and getting to capture their North Idaho fall engagement session was such an honor. With their wedding day set for May 30th, this next chapter is going to be incredibly special — and I already can’t wait to celebrate them again.
